Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of atlasfortutors.com and the Atlas teaching workspace.
1. Agreement to these Terms
By accessing or using Atlas, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
In these Terms, “Atlas”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of atlasfortutors.com. These Terms do not remove any rights that cannot lawfully be waived or limited.
2. What Atlas provides
Atlas is a teaching workspace designed primarily for tutors. It includes tools for creating and adapting teaching material, using Atlas-authored subjects and activities, keeping learner and lesson continuity, saving tutor-owned work, exporting supported data, and using optional AI-assisted creation features.
Atlas may add, remove, improve, replace, or reorganize features over time. We may also offer experimental or preview features that change more quickly than the rest of the product.
3. Accounts and access
Some Atlas features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and devices secure and for activity carried out through your account.
You must provide accurate information when an account or support workflow asks for it and must not impersonate another person or create accounts for abusive, fraudulent, or unlawful purposes.
Google Sign-In is an optional authentication method. Using Google Sign-In does not give Atlas access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or other Google account content beyond the basic identity information described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Tutor responsibilities and learner information
You are responsible for how you use Atlas in your teaching practice, including what learner information you enter, what materials you present, and whether your use complies with obligations that apply to your relationship with learners, clients, schools, platforms, or employers.
Enter only learner information that you reasonably need. You are responsible for obtaining any consent, permission, or other legal basis required before storing personal information about another person in Atlas.
Atlas is a teaching tool, not a substitute for your professional judgment. You remain responsible for reviewing material before using it with a learner.
5. Your content and ownership
As between you and Atlas, you retain the rights you already have in material that you create, write, upload, or save through your Atlas account, including tutor-created subjects, adaptations, notes, and teaching material.
You give Atlas a limited permission to host, store, copy, process, transform, transmit, and display that material only as reasonably necessary to operate the service, provide the features you request, keep your workspace synchronized, support backup and restore, maintain security, and comply with law.
You represent that you have the rights or permissions needed for material you submit to Atlas and that your use of that material does not unlawfully infringe another person’s rights.
6. Atlas material and intellectual property
Atlas’s product design, software, branding, interface, Atlas-authored subjects, original editorial material, and other content supplied by Atlas remain owned by Atlas or the relevant licensors unless stated otherwise.
Atlas gives you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the service and Atlas-provided teaching material for ordinary teaching use while you comply with these Terms. You may not copy or republish substantial parts of the Atlas product, source code, proprietary content library, or interface as a competing product without permission.
7. AI-assisted features
Some Atlas features use artificial intelligence to create, adapt, summarize, suggest, or enrich teaching material. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, biased, or unsuitable for a particular learner or context.
You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated material before relying on it or presenting it in a lesson. Do not treat AI output from Atlas as legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or other professional advice.
AI-generated outputs may not be unique and similar material may be generated for other users. Atlas does not guarantee that generated content is original, error-free, or free from third-party rights.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use Atlas to:
- break the law or encourage unlawful activity;
- infringe intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights;
- upload malicious code, probe or bypass security controls, interfere with service operation, or access another user’s account or data without permission;
- harass, exploit, threaten, or deliberately harm another person;
- misrepresent generated material as verified fact when you know it has not been checked;
- scrape, reverse engineer, or systematically extract protected Atlas content except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- use Atlas in a way that creates unreasonable technical load or materially disrupts the service for others.
9. Third-party services
Atlas depends on third-party services for functions such as authentication, cloud storage, analytics, infrastructure, AI generation, search, and image discovery. Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices.
Atlas is not responsible for third-party websites or services that you choose to access outside Atlas, even when Atlas provides a link or integrates a result from them.
10. Backups, exports and data safety
Atlas may provide tools for exporting and restoring supported account data. You are responsible for protecting downloaded backup files because they may contain learner information and other private teaching-workspace data.
Backup and restore tools are provided as safeguards, not guarantees against every possible form of data loss. Keep independent copies of information that is especially important to you.
11. Paid features and subscriptions
Atlas offers a Free plan and may offer paid subscriptions such as Atlas Pro. The applicable price, billing period, included capabilities, renewal terms, taxes, and other material purchase conditions are shown before you buy.
Paid subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period shown at checkout until cancelled. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Creating a free Atlas account does not itself create a paid subscription.
Paddle acts as Merchant of Record for Atlas purchases and handles payment processing, applicable transaction taxes, receipts, subscription billing, cancellations, and approved transaction refunds. Atlas remains responsible for providing the software and the paid product capabilities associated with your subscription.
Refunds and cancellations are also described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Atlas useful and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features can occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, outages, security work, third-party failures, product changes, or circumstances outside our control.
We may modify or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. When a change materially affects durable user data or a paid service, we will try to provide appropriate notice where practical.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Atlas at any time. You can request deletion of your account and associated server-side data by contacting support@atlasfortutors.com.
We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect Atlas or other users, respond to unlawful or abusive conduct, address security risks, comply with legal obligations, or enforce these Terms.
14. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Atlas is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not make guarantees about uninterrupted availability, the accuracy of generated or third-party information, fitness for a particular teaching purpose, or particular learning outcomes.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, consumer rights, or other protections that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Atlas will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss arising from use of the service, including loss of profits, opportunity, goodwill, or data.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including any liability that applicable law requires Atlas to accept.
16. Applicable law and non-waivable rights
Your use of Atlas remains subject to the laws that apply to you and to the operator of the service. These Terms are not intended to override mandatory consumer, privacy, or other statutory rights that cannot legally be waived by contract.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Atlas develops. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
