Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Atlas handles, why we handle it, and the choices you have when you use atlasfortutors.com and related Atlas services.
1. About Atlas
Atlas is a teaching workspace for tutors. It lets tutors create and adapt lesson material, keep learner and lesson continuity, save tutor-owned subjects and versions, use conversation activities, and use optional AI-assisted creation features.
In this policy, “Atlas”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of atlasfortutors.com. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to support@atlasfortutors.com.
2. Information we handle
Account and authentication information
If you create or use an Atlas account, we handle information needed to authenticate you and keep your workspace connected to your account. This can include your email address, an internal account identifier, authentication provider information, and account entitlement information.
Google Sign-In information
If you choose Sign in with Google, Google may provide Atlas with basic account information such as your name, email address, profile picture, and identity information needed to authenticate your Google account. Atlas requests only the standard identity scopes used for sign-in: openid, email, and profile.
Atlas does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, contacts, documents, or other Google account content through Google Sign-In.
Teaching workspace information
When you use signed-in Atlas features, the service can store information you choose to create or save, including tutor-created subjects and versions, learner or session labels, lesson continuity, saved language, subject references, curation choices, workspace preferences, and related teaching-state information.
AI-assisted feature inputs and outputs
When you use an AI-assisted feature, Atlas processes the information needed to perform that request. Depending on the feature, this can include a subject title, teaching brief, prompt, lesson context, selected material, or other content you submit, together with the generated response.
Messages to Atlas
If you use “Message Atlas” or another support contact form, we store the message you send, the name you provide, an optional reply email address, and the time the message was submitted so that we can read and respond to it.
Usage and technical information
Atlas uses product analytics to understand how the service is reached and used. This can include page views, sessions, referral or campaign information, device and browser information, and product events such as opening a subject or starting a creation flow.
Atlas’s custom analytics layer is specifically designed not to send email addresses, learner names, account identifiers, passwords, user-written prompts or content, subject titles, or raw error messages as custom analytics event parameters.
Browser storage
Atlas uses local storage and session storage in your browser for things such as sign-in sessions, temporary return-to-action state, preferences, local drafts, caches, appearance settings, and other short-lived or device-specific product state.
3. How Atlas uses Google user data
Google account data is used only to support account sign-in and account identity.
Atlas uses the Google identity information described above to create or connect your Atlas account, authenticate you, maintain your signed-in session, show the account identity associated with Atlas, and support account security and support requests.
Atlas does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or send your Google profile information to Atlas’s AI-generation provider for model prompting. Google identity data may be processed by Atlas’s authentication infrastructure as necessary to establish and maintain your Atlas account.
4. Why we use information
We use information described in this policy to:
- provide sign-in, account access, and account security;
- save and synchronize the teaching workspace you ask Atlas to keep;
- create, edit, restore, export, and revisit tutor-owned work;
- provide AI-assisted lesson-material and subject-generation features you choose to use;
- operate search, current-affairs, and image-finding features where requested;
- measure product reliability and understand aggregate usage;
- respond to support messages and troubleshoot problems;
- protect Atlas, its users, and its infrastructure from misuse or security threats; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
5. Services that process information for Atlas
Atlas relies on service providers to operate the product. Information is shared with them only as reasonably necessary for the relevant feature.
- Supabase provides authentication and server-side storage for signed-in Atlas account data.
- Google Identity Services provides Google Sign-In.
- Google Analytics provides website and product-usage analytics.
- Cloudflare provides worker infrastructure used for Atlas AI requests and the Atlas support-message inbox.
- OpenAI processes content submitted to Atlas AI-assisted features in order to generate the requested output.
- Pexels and Serper may receive search terms when Atlas features request image or web-search results.
- Paddle acts as Merchant of Record for paid Atlas purchases and processes the billing, payment, tax, receipt, subscription, cancellation, and refund information needed to complete and manage those transactions. Atlas receives the subscription and transaction status and identifiers needed to provide paid access.
These providers may process technical information and request data under their own applicable terms and data-handling arrangements. Atlas does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
6. AI features and learner information
AI features are optional. Content you submit to an AI-assisted feature can be transmitted to Atlas’s AI infrastructure and the relevant AI provider so that the requested material can be generated.
If you use Atlas to work with learner information, enter only what you reasonably need for teaching continuity. Do not place passwords, financial information, health information, government identifiers, or other highly sensitive personal data into prompts or teaching notes unless you have a clear, lawful reason to do so.
Tutors are responsible for having an appropriate basis to store information about their learners and for complying with any privacy obligations that apply to their teaching relationship.
7. Storage, backups and retention
Signed-in durable workspace information is stored server-side in account-scoped Atlas storage. Atlas also uses browser storage for local preferences, drafts, caches, and temporary workflow state.
Atlas provides a portable backup/export feature. A backup can contain learner and teaching-workspace data and is downloaded to your device. Once downloaded, that file is under your control, so keep it private and store it securely.
We retain account and workspace information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain legitimate operational records, resolve disputes, protect security, or meet applicable legal obligations. Support messages are retained until they are no longer needed for support or administration and can be deleted from the Atlas inbox.
Service providers may maintain their own operational or security retention periods under their applicable terms.
8. Your choices and requests
Depending on the feature, you can edit or delete tutor-created work from Atlas and download a portable backup of supported account data.
Atlas does not currently provide a self-service “Delete account” button. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your Atlas account and associated server-side data, email support@atlasfortutors.com from the account email where possible.
You can also disconnect Atlas from your Google Account through Google’s account settings. Disconnecting Google authorization does not by itself delete data already stored in your Atlas account.
9. Security
Atlas uses technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect account and workspace data, including authenticated account boundaries and database access controls. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for protecting access to your account, devices, and downloaded backups.
10. International processing
Atlas and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those locations may have different data-protection rules. Where applicable, providers are responsible for the transfer mechanisms required for their processing.
11. Learners and children
Atlas accounts are designed for tutors, not as direct learner accounts for children. If a tutor chooses to store information about a learner, including a minor, the tutor is responsible for ensuring that the information is appropriate to store and that any consent, notice, or other legal basis required in their circumstances has been obtained.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Atlas changes. When we make a material change, we will update the date shown at the top and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the product.
